In 2016, the Rotary Club of Sussex became involved in a small way with Dolly Parton’s Imaginary Library book project.
As stated by Dolly, “This program is one of the most important ways I know to improve the educational opportunities for children in your community.”
The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free children’s book distribution program. Dolly Parton started this program in 1996 in her home area – Sevier County, Tennessee. The program arranges for children up to the age of five to receive free monthly books that are age-appropriate. Presently the program has expended over the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Belize.
In 2017, over 20,891 children in Canada are receiving reading books each month, and our Club is proud to be a small part of that number.
