Welcome back to the Rotary Club of Sussex! It has been way too long since we have shared a meal and enjoyed fellowship together for a regular Monday Meeting. We are back at our "home" at the All Seasons. We are thrilled to welcome brand new District Governor, Darren Hansen, as our guest speaker. We are his first stop on his District tour. Let's show him what makes this club a unique and dynamic group! We are excited to change gears and invite many more guest speakers this year. Get your thinking caps on! Who would YOU like to hear from this year? The menu will be a selection off of the regular menu, prices will depend on selection. I look forward to seeing you soon, I've missed you! Please RSVP or decline by Thursay, Sept 9th by noon. Yours in the spirit of Service Above Self, Angie |

Goals for District 7810
Sep 13, 2021 12:15 PM
Born in Fredericton, NB, Darren Hansen has been a resident of Moncton since 1996 and a member of the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview since December 2000.
Darren and his wife of 21 years, Erin, met while attending the University of New Brunswick; and were married after completion of their respective degrees. Erin has a degree in psychology from UNB and an education degree from Crandall University. She works as a teacher in the Anglophone East School District. Darren graduated civil engineering at UNB and he’s President of Heartland Developments Inc., a commercial real estate firm that develops, manages and owns commercial real estate holdings in New Brunswick. Darren & Erin have twin daughters Elise and Olivia; both are currently attending Mount Allison University, undertaking science degrees in biochemistry. They plan to pursue graduate degrees and are members of the Rotaract Club at Mount Allison.
Darren’s involvement in Rotary at the club level has been intensive and rewarding. He has been a board member for the majority of his years with the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview. Darren’s board positions have included Membership Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and President. Darren is a strong supporter of the Rotary Foundation. For the past three years, and currently, he serves as Foundation Chair for the club; the second time he has accepted this responsibility. Darren continued his support of the Foundation by becoming a member of the Paul Harris Society; and is now a Paul Harris Fellow +7. Darren is also a Bequest Society member.
Darren received his first Paul Harris Fellowship recognition from the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview as “Rotarian of the Year” in 2007. Darren received the Frank Hussey Award as Rotarian of the Year from District 7810 in 2008/09 and served as District Trainer under PDG John Carkner.
In addition to Darren’s commitment to Rotary, he has served on the Board of Directors of Moncton Headstart for the last 5 years; and is currently in his second year of his two year term as Board President. He also serves as Secretary on the Board of Curl Moncton and was a committee member for the City of Moncton Brier Bids for 2019 & 2020.
Darren enjoys many physical activities including golfing, curling, cycling, skiing and hiking. Darren & Erin most enjoy spending time with family and friends, enjoying all that New Brunswick has to offer.
Darren looks forward to preparing for his year as District Governor in 2021/22 and will, as always, put his heart and soul into the role. He is also looking forward to meeting and working with fellow Rotarians throughout the District.

Sep 25, 2021 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Hello Sussex Rotary!
This Saturday, September 25th, you are invited to attend the Rotary Virtual Office from approximately 8 to 10 AM at the All Seasons Inn.
Q: What is the Rotary Virtual Office?
A: The Rotary Virtual Office is a chance to throw your laptop, smartphone, Hilroy scribblers, scrolls or papyrus into the car and work on a project or challenge in a 'virtual office' with other Rotarians. For some, that may mean plugging in a headset and plowing through data entry with an occasional conversation with others. For others, that may mean sharing dialogue on how to tackle a problem, professional or otherwise. Still for others, that may mean making some serious progress on your Rotary initiative.
Q: What is the purpose of the Rotary Virtual Office?
A: To help, serve and elevate each other. Consider it like 'success insurance'. The key idea of the Rotary Virtual Office is to progress your project or challenge, but share discussion where you think you might get value from additional insights- even if those insights come from outside of your industry or the normal work context. The project or challenge may be a Rotary project- but support won't be confined. If you have a business challenge, a project you want to progress or an initiative you need some help sticking to, free coffee awaits!
Q: What are some examples of projects or challenges tackled at the Rotary Virtual Office?
A: Some business challenges that have been previously discussed include:
Q: What do I have to bring to the Rotary Virtual Office?
A: A desire to be helped, or a desire to provide it. Help. Serve. Elevate.
Q: Is there really free coffee? I've heard the rumours, but can this really be?
A: Yes, these rumours are true. Who wouldn't provide coffee for friends? Coffee is free. Steak and eggs, however, are not. :)
Yours in support,
Riles |
