Our Club

The Rotary Club of Sussex NB, Inc…

  • Is a diverse collection of civic-minded business and professional community leaders who meet each week for fellowship, professional enrichment, and the opportunity for service.
  • Provides an opportunity for business development networking with a variety of community business leaders and professionals.  Rotarians help each other and collectively help others.
  • Offers a wealth of friendship opportunities with the most active citizens in our community.  In an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of the most basic human needs: the need for friendship and fellowship.
  • Is an adult recess where members take a break from their profession to join with other community leaders in a stimulating atmosphere, learning from provocative speakers and sharing ideas in a collegial and personal setting.
  • Was founded in November of 1977 and is one of over 34000 clubs Rotary Clubs around the world.  Rotary International is the oldest service club in North America, and there are over 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide in 166 countries.
  • Has joined with Rotarians worldwide through Rotary International’s PolioPlus Program to certify the world poliovirus free.  Over $500 million has been raised; 150 countries are now polio free.
  • Bases it’s membership on a classification system with limited numbers from each business or profession.  This system ensures a wide cross section of community representation and provides a unique opportunity for members to meet individuals from outside their own professions.
  • Meets every Monday at 12:15 pm to hear from speakers on timely issues and enjoy the fellowship of other top professionals in the community.
  • Encourages members to provide a voluntary contribution annually to support the works of our charitable arm, the Rotary Club of Sussex Charitable Trusts Inc.
  • Supports a variety of international service projects and educational programs such as Adventures in Citizenship, Rotary Youth Exchange Programs and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
  • Offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to members interested in hands-on activities through our Community Service Projects Committee
  • Expects members to attend at least 60% of the meetings in each six-month period.  Members unable to attend our regular luncheon can make-up at any one of the neighbouring Rotary Clubs, or any of the 34000 Rotary Clubs in the World.
  • Encourages participation in one or more of the club’s committees.  Attendance at committee meetings also counts as a make-up credit.  In addition, there are a number of fellowship opportunities within the club which always welcome member participation.
