Sussex Chamber of Commerce and Paul Bedford

On Monday, February 10th, 2020, Sussex Rotary was joined by guest Paul Bedford, representing firstly the Sussex & District Chamber of Commerce, but also a number of other not-for-profit organizations. 

Paul Bedford is an energetic community leader in helping people and is a small business owner in Sussex, New Brunswick, operating QC Pumps & Compressors Ltd with his father, Jim. They provide industrial service and sales, with a specialization in compressed natural gas and compression to the Maritime provinces. 

Paul is also the President of the Sussex & District Chamber of Commerce, Lead Advisor and Youth Program Facilitator for Junior Achievement New Brunswick in Sussex, Vice President and Organizational Leader for Sussex Girls Softball Association, and the President of the Sussex Asphalt Angels Car Club.

In Paul's free time, he is also a husband to Chrystal, and father of three, Carmendy(14), Quitin(11) and Korbin(3).

Ed Keith on Sunshine House Financial

On Monday, February 3rd, 2020, Rotary Club Member Ed Keith addressed the Club with a presentation on Sunshine House Financial

Sunshine House Financial has offices in one of the oldest homes in Sussex.  The distinguishable yellow house is located at 451 Main Street, Sussex NB.  Rotarians and family members, Jane and Greg Keith, and son Ed, work together with a strong focus on creating and protecting their client's wealth. Sussex Rotary Annual General Meeting 2020

It was a busy Monday, January 27th, 2020, for the Sussex Rotary Club, which had it's Annual General Meeting (AGM) with quorum attendance!

Chairing the event was current Club President Rhoda Wilson with a packed agenda.

Past President Lisa Brown then helped the Club to take a group photo of sorts to commemorate the event, and the meeting commenced with the welcome of members and a couple of special guests, Marley Monohan (daughter of Rotarian Tina Monohan) and exchange student Mimi Rosemeyer (guest of Rotarian Stephanie Bickford-Parent).

Incoming RI President Announces 2020-21 Presidential Theme Rotary International President-elect Holger Knaack is encouraging Rotarians to seize the many opportunities Rotary offers to enrich their lives and the communities they serve.

Knaack, a member of the Rotary Club of Herzogtum Lauenburg-Mölln, Germany, revealed the 2020-21 presidential theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities, to incoming district governors at the Rotary International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA, on 20 January.
Rotary isn’t just a club for people to join, but rather “an invitation to endless opportunities,” said Knaack, who becomes president on 1 July. He emphasized that Rotary creates pathways for members to improve their lives and the lives of those they help through service projects. “We believe that our acts of service, big and small, create opportunities for people who need our help,” Knaack said.

Sussex Rotary Strategic Planning Session
On Friday, January 10th, 2020, Sussex Rotary attended an organization strategic planning session hosted by Tanya Chapman of The Chapman Group, the four-hour session designed to help Sussex Rotary build out a plan to help and serve both our local and global community.
Tanya Chapman is the founder of The Chapman Group. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree from St. Thomas University, along with a certificate in Human Resource Management and an MBA from the University of New Brunswick.  She is a designated Certified Human Resource Professional and has completed the ICD Directors Education Program from the Rotman School of Business. Her management consulting firm specializes in, among a host of things, helping organizations build strategic plans for growth and effectiveness. 

Tanya proceeded to walk the Club through reviewing its vision and mission and identifying its strategic priorities.

She touched briefly on the need for tactical action plans and the importance of measuring success against those action plans along the way...
