The Rotary Club of Sussex and Rotary District 7810 are pleased to have hosted Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2019 at @Kingswood University right here in the Town of Sussex, NB, on May 17 and 18, 2019. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where participants develop their skills as leaders while having fun and making connections.
During this weekend, 31 students participated in the iChoose Youth Leadership Values Program. The iChoose Program comprises of 16 lessons (we covered 8 of them) intending to help teenagers learn leadership values and teach them how to apply them to their own lives from leadership expert John C. Maxwell. These values are recognized by some of the largest and most successful companies in the world.
We were also fortunate enough to have Ben Whalen from Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee lead us in an environmental community service project!
The students and leaders helped harvest some willow stock and picked up 100 lbs of garbage from along Trout Creek! Way to go, everybody! 🙌

Did you know May is Rotary Youth month? Do you know a youth in your community that would like to learn more about leadership and connect with like-minded people from across NB? Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) for District 7810 is being held in Sussex NB on May 17th & 18th. The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is one of the most successful Rotary programs run by Rotary clubs around the world. This fun and intensive training program for 15 to 30-year-olds offers the leaders of the future a chance to get a head start at an early age. Participants will have the opportunity to improve leadership and communication skills, learn about businesses and institutions, explore career paths, share ideas and experiences, learn how to coordinate youth activities and community service projects in the community, and discuss creative approaches for resolving family, social, and professional conflicts. The session will include John Maxwell’s iChoose Youth leadership Values Program, as well as an opportunity for the participants to use those skills in a community project. The cost is $150 that includes overnight accommodations, all meals, John Maxwell course and a lot of fun! |
