United Nations to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

It was a busy agenda for Sussex Rotary today, Monday, December 9th, as Rotarian Pam Harrison joined us from the Rotary Club of Sackville.

Pam brought pamphlets and applications (and shirts!) to invite us to take part in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in Campobello Island, July 30th, 2020.

Rotary International played a crucial role in establishing the United Nations...

Eleanor Roosevelt was inspired to help create The Charter of Human Rights, so their Rotary Club felt it fitting to host the event at Roosevelt's cottage on World Friendship Day

Pam hopes that this event will raise $7,500, with all proceeds going toward Ending Polio.Roosevelt Cottage

Pam also thanked our club for taking part in the End Polio Now Tulip Planting event that took place on October 24th. Pam shared that 11,000 tulips were planted and, according to Rotary International, the event was one of 5,900 events taking place across 121 countries on that same day to help End Polio!

Pam was a great guest with lots of comedic relief! She sported a sample shirt for the upcoming event and invited everyone to read it!

Club member Paula Fleming presented Pam with a thank you gift for all her effort.
